As the mother of 3 great kids, my desire for a strong, effective education system is unquestionable. When parents stay involved kids perform better. As a Trustee, I would promote and focus on delivering an excellent education for all students in School District 23. This is my passion.
Throughout the past 12 years I have been deeply involved in the Kelowna education system serving Parent Advisory Councils since 1996 as, Event Coordinator, President, COPAC rep and Executive Member-at-large Central Okanagan Parent Advisory Council.
I have had the opportunity and great pleasure to sit on SD23 Finance and Legal Committee and the Education Week Committee, as well, attend the BCCPAC 2006 Fall Conference and 2007 Spring Annual General Meeting. This participation has provided insight to the many opportunities and challenges facing BC schools, students, parents, school districts and the ministry and has served to deepen my desire and passion to contribute at a higher level. On Nov 15th I respectfully ask for your support.
About Gail
I bring to the School Trustee position my experience as an effective business leader, volunteer within School District 23 and my perspective as a parent with children still in the school system.
My 28 years management experience at The Bay has provided many transferable skills. The ability to work effectively on a team, to be visionary, a strong problem solver and good communicator make me a good choice for School Trustee. I have been described as open-minded, honest, and approachable with a very positive attitude and the ability to effectively adapt in a rapidly changing environment. In my role as Store Manager I was responsible for significant sales and expense budgets and a staff of 180 people. These skills and experience allow me to face the challenges of both today and those that will arise in the future.
My past two years experience on SD23 Committees will enable me to transition quickly. I have participated in the conversations and built a working knowledge that can not be duplicated by reading minutes. |
