Brian is married to Gail, his wife of 21 years. They have 3 children, Brianna 19, Kaitlynn 14, and Brenndan 12. Brian enjoys motorcycle riding, canoeing, family road trips, and Sunday dinners together.
Brian’s interest in politics really developed after becoming involved with the Downtown Business Association where he served a number of years on the board and as President in 1998. This experience coupled with a gentle push from a political mentor, Anita Tozer, launched his new career – City Councilor.
Brian’s diverse background brings a great deal of experience to council and a balanced approach to governance.
Brian was employed by the Canadian National Institute for The Blind for seventeen years and served 3 years on their Regional Board. His positions included counselor, District Manager (Services), Provincial Manager Fund Development. Brian says working with seniors has given him first hand knowledge of issues they face and in particular the challenges of life with a disability. Brian believes that designing communities to meet the needs of an aging population, people with disabilities and children is a benefit for all.
Brian has also worked for the Corporation of the County of Wellington Roads Department for 11 years as an Operator Inspector. His responsibilities included onsite road construction, maintenance and resurfacing. This knowledge and experience has proven invaluable when it comes to understanding and dealing with the complex and vital issue of transportation in our community. |
